He is also on the international editorial board of the Journal of Transport Geography and the Cahiers Scientifiques du Transport, acts as the Van Horne Researcher in Transportation and Logistics (University of Calgary). He is a member of the PortEconomics.eu initiative regrouping the world's leading maritime transport academics and performs advisory and consulting assignments for international organizations and corporations. Dr. Rodrigue is a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Advanced Manufacturing (2011-2013). In 2013, the US Secretary of Transportation appointed Dr. Rodrigue to sit on the Advisory Board of the US Merchant Marine Academy. The container, like any technical innovation, has a functional (within transport chains) and geographical diffusion potential where a phase of maturity is eventually reached. Evidence from the global container port system suggests five main successive waves of containerization with a shift of the momentum from advanced economies to developing economies, but also within specific regions. These waves are illustrative of major macroeconomic, technological and sometimes political shifts within the global economy. Containerization has therefore a cyclic behavior and that inflection points are eventually reached, marking the end of the diffusion of containerization in a specific port or port range. Future expectations about the growth of containerization thus need to be assessed within an economic cycle perspective instead of the rather linear perspectives.

The Ocean is essential to life on Earth. Most of Earth's water is stored in the ocean. Although 40 percent of Earth's population lives within, or near coastal regions- the ocean impacts people everywhere. Without the ocean, our planet would be uninhabitable. This animation helps to convey the importance of Earth's oceanic processes as one component of Earth's interrelated systems. This animation uses Earth science data from a variety of sensors on NASA Earth observing satellites to measure physical oceanography parameters such as ocean currents, ocean winds, sea surface height and sea surface temperature. These measurements, in combination with atmospheric measurements such as surface air temperature, precipitation and clouds can help scientists understand the ocean's impact on weather and climate and what this means for life here on Earth. 2013-03-19 - M3MSat is a tele-detection satellite, and its mission is to demonstrate and test the technology of three instruments. M3MSat will orbit around Earth at an altitude of approximately 650 kilometres and travel over all Canadian waters approximately ten times a day. The satellite is an advance in the monitoring of Canadian waters, as its position above Earth will allow it to cover a much larger area than ground sensors to capture AIS signals. http://www.phoenixcontact.com/transportationinfrastructure http://www.s3maritime.com The large, luxury yachts outfitted by S3 Maritime in Seattle, Washington house all the systems typically provided by utility companies, as well as propulsion and navigation. Each of these must be monitored and controlled continually. To accomplish that, S3 partnered with Phoenix Contact for a host of products: from controllers and switches to relays, power, and Phoenix Contact’s unique ability to reduce component size—a key factor on a vessel where space comes at a premium.
