Jean-Paul Rodrigue received a Ph.D. in Transport Geography from the Université de Montréal (1994) and has been a professor at Hofstra University since 1999. Dr. Rodrigue's research interests mainly cover the fields of transportation and economics as they relate to logistics and global freight distribution. Specific topics over which he has published extensively cover maritime transport systems and logistics, global supply chains and production networks, gateways and transport corridors. 5000 LLITNs supplied by Against Malaria Foundation arrived on the 21st February 2008 for free distribution in 44 villages from 10 subdivisions of Cameroon situated in the forest region where malaria occurs throughout the year, the main vector of the parasite Plasmodium falciparum being Anopheles gambiae. Studies in these villages had shown the presence of more than 200 mosquitoes per night per house making it very difficult due to being disturbed by the mosquito bites throughout the night.

A maritime academy is training skippers to pilot the largest ships on the high seas, tankers and large container ships in model boats. The new manned model ship handling centre at Timsbury Lake, in Hampshire has recently opened at a cost of nearly 3 million pounds. The site was found after considering some 20 lakes in the South of England and took two years to develop from purchase to completion. The site itself is ideal, it is sheltered, the right depth and is not particularly visible giving the mariners the privacy their need to concentrate on their manoeuvres’.
